So I'm gonna try to keep this thing more up-to-date and actually join the 21st century, now that we're 10 years in. Better late than never...?
I was thinking I could start a Cause of the Day feature that might have you checking back more frequently than you would otherwise to hear my long-winded ramblings.
First off, I had the pleasure of being a celebrity judge for the Charlottesville's Got Talent event Saturday that was a benefit for The Haven at 1st & Market in Charlottesville. So many talented acts! It was a lot of fun, and I'll have more on that tomorrow.
As for today's cause...a certain beverage company is doing what I think is a pretty cool contest right now and I came across this group that seems to be as good a candidate as any for the substantial prize money at stake. Check 'em out.
Musically speaking, I think I'll make this a bonus Cause of the Day entry since it's been so long since I posted last. There's a song I can't get out my head lately and the band was recently on Letterman to perform a "broadcast TV network" friendly version of "Little Lion Man." Here's Mumford & Sons.
Once upon a time, they asked bands on Ed Sullivan's stage like The Doors and The Stones to edit out words like "higher" and "let's spend the night together." Now it's, "boys, can you change that f-bomb you repeat like 20 times in the chorus to 'messed up,' please?" We'll be playing the radio edit version as our New Song of the Day to start the Workday Wrap Up at 6pm tonight, and I have a feeling you'll hear it on Brighten the Corners tomorrow too.
And in honor of one of my all-time favorite sports heroes Julius "Dr. J" Erving's 60th birthday today, check out this video and photo tribute....
cheers!
