Brighten the Corners!

I have mixed feelings about Pavement, despite naming my new show after one of their albums (probably their worst at that)...like most Pavement albums for me, about half of it I could take or leave, but there are a few gems too...Pavement would always come through with those 1, 2, 3 or 4 songs that would STICK with you...

was Pavement just a symbol of the ironic 90s, the Seinfeld of indie rock? does it hold up well or was it just a relic of its time? in a post-911 environment, i just find those Seinfeld repeats aren't as funny as they were at the time...i dunno, not that we can't be ironic or cynical or sarcastic anymore, I think it's just a little more difficult to do so without coming off as a jerk rather than an intelligent hipster or whatever. Hope is the new Irony???

I think Pavement has worn well, actually - few bands have matched their flurry of creative output over such a short span of time, and I do miss them, something I can't say about many other bands that are no longer around.
